Never Thought I'd Love Again (Second Chance) - Chapter 12

Devon woke up late,she washed her face and looked at the mirror..puffy eyes,her look was a mess 'cause of crying last night.Her body feels heavy and she feels like she would faint.She took a quick shower and fixed herself after that,she went to the kitchen downstairs and saw Fretzie preparing their lunch.Fretzie noticed her..


"Hey!" Fretzie said.

"Hey! Uhmm,Where did you sleep last night?" Devon said.

"In your room,beside you" Fretzie said and smiled at her.

"Thanks! You're always there when I totally need you" Devon said and smiled.

"Hey! Stop the drama.Let's eat" Fretzie said and smiled at her.

"Whatever!" Devon said and laughs.

They ate lunch.After eating Fretzie changed clothes and went to Sam's,she told Devon that she will go home and Enrique is gonna be there..


Fretzie knocked on Sam's door,Sam opened it and let Fretzie in...


"Hey! Uhmm,what are you doing here?" He asked.

"Uhh,Sam I need to talk to you" Fretzie said.

"Why? Is there any problem?"

"For me no,but Devon,she told me that you're avoiding her"  Fretzie said.Sam remained silent.

"She...she cried last night because of you" Fretzie said, Sam bowed his head.

"Aren't you gonna say something to me?" Fretzie asked. Sam lit up his head and...

"Why are you saying these to me? Why are you the one whose telling me these instead of her?" Sam asked.

"Because,she's not strong enough to,'cause she's afraid of what would happen if she's the one whose telling you all of this,'cause she's not even brave enough to tell you all of this and made her feel she lost someone important again when I know that you're the first person who made her smile again after hers and James' break-up,Because she doesn't have the courage to tell you that she broke her promise and know that she loves you back!" Fretzie said,her voice was higher this time,but not shouting. Sam looked at Fretzie and smiled.

"You know,I have to thank you for saying all of this to me" Sam said.Fretzie smiled.

"Now I know that you really love my cousin.You should do something sweet to her today" Fretzie said.

"Actually,I already have a plan.Are you in?"

"Absolutely,Yes.Just make sure that she would love this." Fretzie said and smiled.

"Not really sure" He said and laughed.

Enrique knocked at the door and Devon opened it.She let him in and they sat on the couch.


"For what reason you came here?" Devon asked.

"I'm going home if you don't want me to be here" He stood up from his seat and walked towards the door,Devon laughed and stopped Enrique.

"Of course I want you here,I'm just asking,so why did you came here?" She asked again and sat on the couch

"Well,I just want to check you if you're okay.Sam broke the promise,Eh!" He said,teasing Devon and she just laughed.

"Ah,yeah! How did you know?" She asked.

"Fretzie told me last night,she did even ask me to go here and tell me what happened and she asked me to carry you upstairs.You know,you're so heavy" He said and laughed.Devon slapped him in his arms.

"I'm not heavy!" She said and rolled eyes.

"Okay fine.C'mon let's eat Ice cream,my treat" Enrique said and Devon's face enlighten and Enrique laughed.

"Let's go" Devon said and pulled Enrique from his feet.

"Okay,Okay.I know how much you really loved Ice cream" Enrique said,laughing.

"Whatever! Let's just go" she said.

Just as Enrique said,they bought Ice Cream and went back to Devon's house,while eating Enrique's phone rang,he stood up from his seat,went to the kitchen and answered the phone,it was Fretzie..


Phone Convo:
"Quen,is Devon in her house?" 
"Yes,we're actually eating Ice Cream.Why? is there a problem?"
"Ahh,No,there's no problem.Anyways,Sam will sing here,outside Devon's house"
"Are you serious?"
"Yes.I'll text you to ask Devon to go out"
"Ok"

Fretzie ended the call and looked at Sam..


"You ready?" Fretzie asked.

"Yeah,just nervous"Sam said.

"Don't be" Fretzie said and smiled.

"Thanks" Sam said.

"I'll just text Quen,okay? Before I text Quen,I'll just hide,okay?"

"Okay" Sam said.

Fretzie hid behind a tree where she could see what's happening and she texted Enrique.

Enrique's phone beeped and he looked at the message..After he read the message..


"Ahh,Devz.Can you go outside?" Enrique said.


"Why?" Devon asked,confused.


"Just go" Enrique said and Devon followed.


Devon went out and right after she got out of her door she saw Sam standing there outside her house with a guitar,Sam started strumming the guitar and sang..

After Singing Sam looked at Devon.She was seriously staring at him.After seconds of staring at each other.Devon ran to Sam and hugged him.At that moment Enrique and Fretzie knows that their friend really loves the guy whose she's hugging now...

Never Thought I'd Love Again (Second Chance) - Chapter 11

Days passed,Devon didn't go out these past few days,she's thinking about what Quen,Leen and Fretzie said to her about her promise,and those past days,Sam is always in her house,playing around with her and two days ago Sam told her something..She called Fretzie and asked if she can come to her house,Fretzie said she would come just wait for a few minutes and she will be there,Devon agreeded and ended the call.


Devon is sitting on the couch,she's waiting for Fretzie.After a few minutes,Fretzie knocked on the door,Devz opened it and they sat on the couch..


"So,why are you asking me to come over here?" Fretzie asked.

"I want to talk about something." Devon said.

"So what is it?"

"About the promise"

"Devz,stop talking about the promise you made,I know you wouldn't break that so stop talking about it"

"No.About the promise,I'm breaking it" Devz said.Looking down.

"Really? If you really planned of breaking it,what is the reason? or should I say Who is the reason?" Fretzie said.Emphasizing the word "who".

"No.It's because of you,Leen and Quen.I realized that you three were worrying at me 'cause of the promise,so I decided to break it."

"Is that really the reason? or there's something else?"

"To be honest with you..Yes! there is something else"

"And who is it?"

"It's.." Devon sighed and continued."It's Sam"

"What?! Really?"

"Yes"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes,and I think he's dissapointed and he's avoiding me for two days after he said something to me"

"Would you mind telling what happened?" fretzie asked.

"Okay" Devon sighed and started telling what happened..

2 days ago..


Sam and Devon were sitting in the couch watching TV.They quietly watched until Sam said something..


"Uhh,Devz" Sam said.


"Yes?"


"I want to tell you something"


"What is it?" Devz asked.


"I like you,no,I love you.More than a friend"


Devon was shocked at Sam's confession to her but the promise? It's still on her mind.After seconds of staring at Sam,she took a deep breath and talked..


"Sorry Sam but,I can't accept the feelings you have for me.I'm still moving on and can't forget about James and I think you didn't know about the promise I've made of not loving anyone again.I don't want to hurt your feelings but,Sorry.I can't accept it." Devon said.But deep inside her she regretted what she told to Sam


"I understand.I uhh,need to go,bye" He said and went home.


Devon felt guilty on what she has done after 2 days,Sam doesn't talk to her,he's avoiding her.She felt that she lost someone important to her..again.


"And that's it.He's avoiding me,I'm so stupid." she said.tears started to fall.Fretzie wiped her tears and said.

"You're not stupid.Now tell me,do you love him?" Fretzie asked.Devon nodded.

"Since when?" Fretzie asked.

"Since when I already moved on,he's always making me smile,I don't know but,whenever I see him,my heart beats so fast and my world stops.I don't know what to do" Devon's tears fall down while saying these to Fretzie.

"So you really moved on?"

"Yes! and it's because of Sam" Devon said,tears are falling.

"Then why do you said those to Sam?" Fretzie asked.

"I don't know,I don't know Fretzie.I'm confused!" she's now shouting and tears just can't be stopped.

"Shh,it's okay.Stop crying,I'll get some water,okay?"

"Okay"

Fretzie went to the kitchen to get some water and went back to Devon.

"Here." Fretzie handed the glass of water to Devon and she took it.

"Thanks" Devon said and smiled sadly and drank water.

"Are you ok now?" Fretzie said and sat beside Devon she placed the water on the table.

"Yes" Devon said and leaned her head on Fretzie's shoulder.

After a few minutes Devon fell asleep on Fretzie's shoulder,Fretzie placed a pillow on the couch and laid Devon's head and texted Quen..


Text Convo:
Fretzie: Quen,can you come over here at Devon's house?
Quen: Why? Is there any problem?
Fretzie: I'll just tell you.So,can you come?
Quen: Ok.Just wait half an hour.
Fretzie: Ok.

While waiting for Enrique,Fretzie took a shower and changed clothes.When she's done,Quen came and knocked at the door,Fretzie opened it and let Enrique in.


"What happened?" Quen asked.

"Devz were cying on our conversation,she told me everything" Fretzie said.

"What? What happened?" Quen asked.

"Before I tell you everything,can you bring Devon in her room? She's sleeping in the couch" Fretzie said.

"Okay" Quen said.He carried Devon and brought her to her room,Quen laid her in her bed,went out and closed the door and went downstairs.

"So,what happened?" Quen asked,they sat on the couch and Fretzie told him everything,like Fretzie he was shocked and worried for Devon.

"How is she?"

"She's okay.But when I talked to her,she can barely breath"

"Just don't leave her okay? She needs you this time. I'm going home,it's already late,I'll just come back tomorrow" Quen said.

"Okay"

Quen left Devon's house and went to home while Fretzie locked all the doors and went to Devon's room,she laid beside Devon and went to sleep..

The next day..

Devz woke up early..she got up from her bed and washed her face after that she changed clothes...she went downstairs to drink water..she sat at the sofa and watched TV..

Sam woke up early..he got up,changed clothes,brushed his teeth and went downstairs to prepare breakfast..he will surprise Devon..After minutes of preparing food..he's ready to go..he left his house and went to Devon's..he knocked.

Devon heard a knock on her door..she opened the door but there's no one..she frowned and get back on what she was doing..she was about to have a sit when she a heard a knock on her door again..she opened it but there's no one..she's getting mad..someone's making fun of her..she returned to what she was supposed to do..she then was about to have a sit on the sofa when she heard another knock on her door..she opened it and Yeah,Sam was there..smiling..

"Sam?" Devon said.Surprised.

"Yeah,It's me" He said and laughed.

"How did you know where I live?" Devon said.Confused.

"It's my secret..I have my ways" He said and smiled.

"Okay fine..But what came to your mind and you did make fun of me huh?" Devon said.

"Before I answer your question..can I come in?" He said.

"Oh,Yeah sure" Devon said.

They went inside Devon's house..Sam placed the food he brought in the table and went to Devon and sat beside her in the sofa..

"So,have you eaten breakfast?" Sam asked.

"Nope! My best friend,Quen would be here." She said. "So,what came to your mind and you made fun of me huh?"

"Well,Nothing..I just want to make fun of you" He said and laughed. "I brought some breakfast,you want to eat?"

"Uhhh,Yeah,sure" Devon said.  "How about you? Have you eaten breakfast?"

"Nope..I want to eat with you that's why I brought food" He said and smiled.

"Oh,Okay" She said and smiled.

They went to the kitchen and ate breakfast...after eating,they cleaned the table and washed the dishes..Sam insisted that he will help Devz to wash the dishes..they quietly washed the dishes but Sam made fun of Devz again..he sprinkled water on her face..but Devz looks like she doesn't want to be the only on whose wet,so she sprinkled water at Sam's face...they finished washing the dishes when someone knocked on the door...Devz opened it and it was Enrique..Quen went inside Devon's house..


"Hey,what happened to you? You're wet" Quen said.

"Sam,started." She said. "Ahh Sam,This is Quen.Quen this is Sam"

"Sam" Sam said and offered his hand.Quen took it and smiled.

"Enrique,but call me Quen" He said.

"Ahh,Devz..I need to go..Bye dude,nice meeting you" Sam said and smiled.

"Okay" Devz said.

"Nice meeting you too" Quen said and Sam went home.

"So,He's Sam..the guy you're talking about huh?" Quen said to Devon,with a teasing voice.

Devz laughed and slapped Enrique's arms. "Yeah,He is Sam"

"That hurts..Oh well,you go get a shower first then we'll go to the park" Quen said.

"Okay" Devz said.

She went upstairs and took a shower while Enrique sat on the sofa and turned on the TV..after half an hour,she's done..she went downstairs..


"Let's go" she said and smiled.

"Okay" Enrique turned off the TV and they left Devon's house.

They walked their way to the park,Devz house was  minutes away from the park..when they got there,they sat on one of the benches..


"So,already moved on?" He asked.

"Not really..memories just keep coming back over and over." She said.

"It's part of it..but someday,you will forget about it"  Quen said.

"I hope so." She said,leaning her head against Quen's shoulder.

"About the promise..are you really sure about it?" Quen asked.

"Yes." She said.

"Okay" Quen said.

They talked about Devon's promise all day,but they still can't convince her to stop it...Quen took Devon home...when Devon got inside her house..Enrique went home still thinking how could they convince her about her promise..

Fretzie went to Sam's house..she knocked and Sam opened it..


"Oh,Hey Fretzie" He said and smiled.

"Hey" she said. "Can I come in?"

"Oh,Yeah.Sure" He said and smiled.

They entered the house and sat at the sofa..

"So,what brings you here? And how did you know where I live?" He asked.

"Well,it's not important of how did I know where you live.What important is,I need to talk to you for something" Fretzie said.

"Okay" he said. "So,what is it?"

"About Devz" Fretzie said.

After Sam heard the name he lit up his face and got a little curious..

"What is it about Devon? Is she okay?" he asked.worriedly.

"Yes,she's okay.But something in her heart doesn't" Fretzie said. "You know about James,right?"

"Yeah,I know that guy.Why? do it has something to do with James?" He asked.

"Uhh,Yes.You know that they had been in a relationship but James broke up with her,right?"

"Yes" he said.

"Well,that affected Devz,so much.That she's really hurt and came to the point of deciding to move on and promised to....not love again." Fretzie sighed and sighed.

"What?! She couldn't have done that" He said.

"I know right? That's why I came here" Fretzie said.

"Okay.But why are you saying these to me?" He asked.

"Cause,she needs you.We need you,to help our friend and make her realize that those stupid promises couldn't have been made.You get my point?" Fretzie said.

"Yes.So,what should I do?" he asked.

"Just make her happy.Be one of her best buds.Just make her happy that at some point she will realize that promise,is nothing" Fretzie said.

"Okay" He said and smiled.

"Uhh,before I leave,just wanna ask you something?" she said.

"Okay.What is it?"

"Do you like my cousin?" Fretzie said.With a teasing voice.He laughed.

"Well,let's say that...I love her" He said.Grinning.

"Well,someone's in love with my beautiful cousin..Haha" She said. .

"Whatever..haha" He said and smiled. "Oh wait,can you tell me where Devon lives?" he asked.

"Haha..I can't.Discover it yourself." Fretzie said and smiled. "Hey,I uhmm..need to go.Bye"

"Oh,Okay."

Fretzie left Sam's house and went home she sent a message to Quen and told him about what she and Sam talked about...it was late afternoon when Fretzie went home..Sam is still thinking of where Devon lives..He went to his room to change clothes,he looked at his window and...there she is..Devon's house is next to his..they're neighbors..


"Guess I don't have to go far just to go to her house..We're neighbors."  Sam thought.

He changed clothes and went out to buy food for his dinner..

Devz finished eating her dinner and went to her room..she's talking with Leen while Quen was downstairs watching TV..


"So,Devz.Have you already moved on?" Leen asked.

"Yeah.I'm getting there.But some of our memories still coming back,I hate it" Devz said.Tears already wanted to fall.But Leen stopped her.

"Hey,It's ok.It's part of it.But if you already moved on,those memories,forget about them until you're not hurt anymore.You understand?" Leen said.

"Yeah I understand." Devz said and smiled.

"And there's this person who you will love again." Leen said and smiled at Devz.

"Do you know about my promise?"  Devz asked.

"Yes,I do know about it.But it's not right,I mean why would you do such thing as that? If the reason is you don't want to get hurt again,it's part of it.You need to be strong." Leen said and smiled.

Devz looked at Leen and smiled."Thank you for being my Best friend" Devon hugged Leen and Leen did the same.

Leen smiled and shouted."Quen!"

Quen heard Leen,shouting his voice.He turned off the TV and run to Devz room..


"What happened?" Quen asked.

"Nothing.I think Devz just need a hug" Leen smiled.

"Ahh.I thought something bad happened.Haha" Quen said and hugged the two ladies in front of him.

After minutes of hugging each other...


"You two should go.It's already late" Devz said and smiled.

"Okay." Quen said.

They hugged again and left Devon's house and went home..When the two left Devz changed clothes,she turned off the lights and took a rest.

Sam got home and ate his dinner..after eating he went to his room,took one glance at his window,changed clothes and laid on his bed..


"I guess I'll visit her tomorrow morning" He thought and smiled.

After that he turned off the lights and went to sleep..

After 2 months...


Devz didn't saw Sam for a couple of months.She's relieved when she knew someone wouldn't ask about her past or about James..She's irritated with Sam when he started to ask about it..But somehow she misses Sam..that guy who would annoy her..She misses him..but she doesn't can't have feelings for him..she wouldn't broke her promise..

Fretzie called her...she asked her if she wanted to go out,she agreed..Fretzie said to her that she should get ready and Fretzie will be there any minute before she ended the call..Devon started to take a shower and then changed clothes,just like what she always wear T-shirt and jeans...then she's ready to go and Fretzie was already there knocking on her house..


"Let's go" Devon said and smiled at Fretzie.

"Okay...So where do we go?" Fretzie asked.

"You're the one who asked me to go out and you don't know where should we go?" Devon said and laughed.

"Yeah,I forgot" Fretzie said and laughed.

They rode a taxi which can bring them to the mall...after half an hour they reached the mall and payed the taxi..the went inside and went to a restaurant to eat..Fretzie ordered food for them...while waiting for their orders Fretzie asked Devon..


"So,why you aren't with Sam?" Fretzie asked Devon.

"I didn't saw him for the past 2 months" Devon answered.

"Really? I think you miss that guy huh?" Fretzie said with a teasing tone in her voice.

Devon laughed."Yeah,to be honest.I miss that guy even if he annoys me with his questions about...James" she said and sighed.

"Hey! It's okay..at least there is someone who is brave enough to ask about your past..and besides I feel that he likes you" Fretzie said and smiled.

"Hey! stop that" Devon said and laughed.

"Haha what's wrong with it? I'm just saying what I thought about you and Sam and besides ..I can feel that you like him too" She said and smiled at Devon.

"Oh no! I can't have feelings for him and Yeah,I like him as a friend..Remember,my promise." Devon said.

Fretzie looked at her and hold her hand."Devz,are you sure about that? I mean,forget about your promise.You can't stop your heart to love someone." Fretzie said to Devon..After Fretzie said that she knew her cousin was serious but she already made her choice.

"Sorry Fretzie,but..you know how much my heart broke when James left me,and I don't want to get hurt again." She said.

"Okay,If I can't really stop you from that stupid promise." Fretzie said and smiled at her.

"Thanks..let's stop this conversation..here's our orders." She said.

They ate their foods and after eating they decided to watch a movie and then walk around the mall...after 3 hours in the mall they decided to go to Devon's house..they rode a taxi and brought them to Devon's house...

Devon was opening her door and Fretzie was looking around..she looked at the house next to Devon's when she saw Sam.."So, these two were neighbors huh? I guess I need to talk to Sam" Fretzie thought..


"Ahh,Devon..I need to go home already.I have things to do" She said to Devon.

"Huh? Okay" Devon said. Devon got inside her house and closed the door.

After Devon got into her house...Fretzie knocked on Sam's house.

Devs was in the park,under a tree,with her guitar..she was played some songs which was actually her favorite songs...she even played the song which James like play for her...but he's gone and she's moving on....

Sam was walking 'round the park when he saw a familiar figure of a girl under a tree...he walk closely to that person and to his surprise...it's Devon,playing a guitar,under a tree...He decided to sit beside her and said..


"Hey!" Sam said..Devon was surprised when she heard that familiar voice..she lift up her face and saw Sam..

"Oh Hey! What brings you here?" she said.

"Haha, well I just want to cool my mind but then I saw you here..You're playing guitar?" he asked.

"Uhh,Yeah..." she smiled.

"Can you play a song for me? please?"

"Sure..what song you want me to play?"

"I don't know...just sing what you want to sing" he said and smile.

"Okay" she said and starts strumming the guitar..

"I remember years ago someone told me
I should take caution when it comes to love I did,I did

Sam was amazed by Devon's voice,she sings with all her feelings inside...


"Wow! You are really a great singer,you have a great voice.." he said smiling.


"Haha, thank you for the compliment...anyways,why don't you sing for me? it would be great!" she said smiling and handed the guitar to Sam..


"Huh? Me?" he said..pointing himself.


"Yes! You sing.." she said and smiled.


"Oh Okay" he then started to strum the guitar.


" I walked across an empty land I knew the pathway like the back of my 
hand,I felt the earth beneath my feet,sat by the river and it made me complete

"Haha thanks.." he said and smiled.

"So,i'm only curious..what's your favorite song Devon?" he asked.

"My favorite song? well, my fave song is 'Marry Your daughter'..why you asking?" she said.

"Nothing,just curious...but why is it your favorite song?"

"Well, I'm wishing for someone who will sing that song to my dad just to ask permission of marrying me" she said..looking up in the sky..

"Yeah,it would be great if someone has done that to you" he said and smiled.

"Yeah!" she said.

They spent the whole day in the park...doing things like singing,playing around and eat when they got hungry... 

Never Thought I'd Love Again (Second Chance) - Chapter 6

Leen and Quen went to Devon's house....They entered Devon's house and went straight to her room and she's still asleep...and Quen shouted..


"Devs,Wake Up!!" Quen shouted. but Devon is still asleep.


"Hmm,I have a better idea of waking her up" Leen said and winked at Quen.


They went to the kitchen and got some pots and spatula and went again to Devon's room...when they got there they stricken the pots with the spatulas which causes loud noise and is enough to woke Devon up..


"Hey! You two! Disturbing my sleep! Urghh!" Devon said.Irritated.


"Hey Best! It's already 12 noon!" Leen said and jumped in Devon's bed.


"What?!" Devon  got up from her bed. "Why didn't you woke me up early?"


"Well I already shouted for how many times but you're still asleep...so Leen got the idea of striking the pots and Yeah! that woke you up." Quen said and they laughed.


"Yeah,that really woke her up.." Leen said. "So,Best! what should we do first?"


"I think I should get a shower and you two wait here..Okay?" Devon said.


"Okay" the two said.


Devon went to the bathroom and took a shower...after almost 30 minutes she's done..then she changed clothes and got out from the bathroom and went to her room..


"Finally you're done."  Quen said.


"So,what should we do first?" Leen asked.


Devon looked at her bed and saw her stuffed toys which James gave her. "I think we should start first at the stuffed toys." She said. 


"You sure?" Leen asked.


"Yes!" Devon said and smiled.


"Okay." 


"So,Let's start?" Quen asked.


"Kay!" Devon and Leen said.


They started getting the stuffed toys and put it in a box after that they gathered all the clothes that James gave to Devon...next the letters he gave and last their pictures...they were done for almost 3 hours and they were hungry... 


"I think we should eat" Quen said.


"Yeah!" Leen said.


"But...you should treat us?" Devs said.


"Yeah,that would be great..Let's go Devs" Leen said.


"Haha.Let's go!" Devs said.


"You two are really like sisters.." Quen said and laughed.


Quen followed the two and they ate at a food chain...after eating they took Devon home...
